Proven Conservative, Brian Blair, has spent his entire political career trying to reduce wasteful Government spending. Blair has opposed this tax increase since it was announced. Blair supports “No Tax for Tracks” and encourages everyone to come out to “Defend the American Dream: How High Cost Rail attacks our Prosperity/Freedom” meeting on September 22nd.

Hillsborough County taxpayers will foot the bill for 2 to 3% of the population that will ride the new Light Rail system. The proposed sales tax increase would place Hillsborough on top as the county with the highest sales tax in Florida and subsequently discourage new businesses from opening up in the county. The increase would also deter people from purchasing “high tag” items such as cars and appliances in this county. Right now Hillsborough County has one of the highest unemployment rates in the State of Florida. We shouldn’t burden its residents with more taxes during the worst economic times of our lives.
The No Tax for Tracks campaign aspires to preserve the American Dream by opposing the anti-suburban polices implied by so called “Smart Growth.” By opposing so called “Smart Growth” the No Tax For Tracks campaign endeavors to preserve the higher quality of life implied by affordable housing, as well promote the higher standard of living made possible when adequate roads reduce congestion and thus improve economic growth.
“The proposed Light Rail system is a luxury, not a necessity.” Blair says “This is a perfect example of Government Greed at work.”
“People will not choose rail over car as long as they can afford to drive and park” – Governor Bob Martinez
